Our rooms
|
At
Au Petit Verger we have 5 spacious rooms all decorated to a themed
colour. The style is simple, designed to be relaxing yet pleasing to
the eye. Traditional features such as wood polished floors and tiling
have been retained and enhanced. All services, lighting, showers etc
are new and to current standards, smoke detectors are fitted which is
unusual in France. Power sockets and shaver sockets are generously
distributed and most beds have a light switch at the bed head. Each
room has double glazing expertly fitted in the original wood frames so
seasonal temperature variations are minimised. Down here it is as
important to control the heat gain in summer as it is the heat loss in
winter. All windows are fitted with shutters and light curtains.
|
The
Blue Room has a double bed and early 1900's marble fireplace surmounted
by an ornate metal mirror. It benefits from a full en-suite with double
size power shower, wash basin and wc. The room looks out over the front
of the house with the roofs of the village and church in the
foreground, the plain of Puivert and mountains beyond.
|
The
Yellow Room seems to be a favourite of guests seeking tranquility.
Normally with a double bed, this room easily takes a fold down bed or
camp cot if required. A power shower and wash basin are in the room and
a toilet is situated adjacent on a mezzanine level. Situated to the
rear of the house the window overlooks our orchard and the neighbouring
forest.
|
The
Green Room contains 2 single beds and is often used by families as a
compliment to a double room. Again it has a shower and wash basin and
the toilet is just outside. At the rear of the house the room overlooks
the orchard and has a view of the Chateau when the trees are not in
full bloom.
|
The
Rose Room has a lovely early 1900's fireplace and ornate mirror and
being at the front of the house shares a view of the village roofs and
church set against a back cloth of the mountains beyond. This view is a
visual delight as the seasons change and on a daily basis as the light
changes. Immediately adjacent to the Rose room is a full bathroom for
the private use of the occupants. Again the spacious nature of the room
lends itself to the quick erection of a fold down bed or camp cot if
required.
|
All the above rooms have traditional oak floors in magnificent condition which we believe were laid in 1929.
|
The
Magnolia Room is a large room ideal for families. In common with the
rest of the downstairs of the property it has a magnificent patterned
tiled floor laid in the 1920's by an Italian expert working out of
Narbonne. When we bought the house this room had a carpet laid and it
was only later we realised the true beauty of what was hidden
underneath. With double bed and bunk bed as standard there is still
room to add a fold down bed or camp cot as required. Completed in 2005
this room has a full on-suite with power shower, basin and wc.

Breakfast
and evening meals are taken in our huge dining room/lounge which
extends the full width of the house. In the winter a truly superb log
fire burns in the fireplace around which guests can sit to chat or
watch a little television. In summer we often arrange the evening meal
on the terrace where you can sit under the shade of our muscat vine
watching the changing light on the forest and listening to the birds as
darkness falls.
